Large Building Blower Door Testing – Session Part 3

A three-part progressive technical learning series covering the complete large building blower door testing process. Beginning with an understanding of the applicable standards, testing protocols, performance targets and metrics, the series progresses through building and test preparation and concludes with the actual testing process, interpretation of results and practical solutions.

Each session builds on the knowledge developed in the previous session, taking participants from understanding what needs to be achieved, through how to properly prepare for testing, to conducting the test and understanding what the results mean. The series is designed for architects, engineers, builders, developers, property managers and other professionals involved in the design, construction and performance of large buildings.

Part 3 brings the knowledge from the first two sessions together and focuses on what actually happens on test day.

The session examines how large building blower door testing is performed, how the building and testing equipment are managed, how test pressures and measurements are obtained, and how the resulting data is interpreted against the applicable performance target.

Participants will also learn how testing can be used to identify leakage and performance issues, understand why a building may not achieve its target, and guide practical corrective solutions. The session takes the process from conducting the test through interpreting the results, troubleshooting deficiencies and ultimately demonstrating building airtightness performance.
