Greener Homes Grant – Closure

The deadline to request a grant is December 31, 2025, 11:59 pm (ET). This means that you must have:

  • Completed the pre- and post-retrofit energy evaluations
  • Completed and paid for the eligible retrofits
  • Uploaded all receipts showing that payment has been made in full to your application in the Greener Homes portal
  • Click on “Receipts have been uploaded and I am ready to request the grant” in your application in the portal

Requests for grant payments made after the deadline will not be processed.

FAQ:

What status must my application be in by December 31st to be considered eligible?

The application in your application portal must be at Grant to be Confirmed status by December 31st to be considered for a grant. Your D and E files have to be in Submitted status for your application to reach this stage.

Will exceptions be made if my energy advisor or service organization is shut down for the holiday period or if I’m unable to obtain copies of receipts?

Generally speaking, no exceptions will be made. However, homeowners or Service Organizations may write to NRCan about their case if they feel like there are extenuating circumstances that should be considered that prevented the application from moving forward by the deadline. In general, flexibility on the deadline will not be provided to homeowners for these reasons:

 

  • Due to a Service Organization office closure during the holiday period, or an Energy Advisor’s holiday schedule
  • If their EnerGuide files are not submitted or are in the wrong status
  • If they are unable to obtain their receipts from contractors
What happens if there are technical issues with the portal that does not advance my application to the Grant to be Confirmed status?

If a Service Organization or homeowner encounters a technological failure in NRCan’s system that can be validated by NRCan’s IT team, or if a mistake is made by an NRCan program officer resulting in an application not moving forward by the deadline, flexibilities will be reviewed and considered on a case by case basis.

What happens if I cannot log into my application portal?

Contact NRCan directly at 1-833-674-8282 or canadagreenerhomesgrant-subventionmaisonsvertes@nrcan-rncan.gc.ca. Please ensure well in advance that you are able to log-in to ensure that support can be provided.
