Navigating CSA A440.4 Window Installation
Date: TBA
Time: N/A
Overview
With the adoption of the 2023 National Building Code, CSA guidelines for window installation have changed. Qualistat Building Envelope Consultants have been working closely with these evolving interpretations, helping builders understand how the standard is being applied in the field and where common inspection issues are arising. Join us in this presentation for a full understanding of CSA A440.4 led by Steve Cox our Building Envelope Manager.
MLI Select & MURB (ASHRAE) Rebate Program
Date: June 24th, Wednesday
Time: 12 PM (B.C. Time)
Overview
This session is designed for property managers, strata managers, condo boards, building owners, developers, consultants, and retrofit contractors who are looking to understand available funding pathways for energy efficiency, electrification, and building performance upgrades.
We will cover the BC Hydro Multi-Unit Residential Building Retrofit Program, including Opportunity Assessments and Feasibility Studies, which can help stratas, rental buildings, and equity co-ops identify energy-saving retrofit opportunities, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, improve comfort, and build a clear business case before starting upgrades. BC Hydro currently offers funding of up to $5,000 for Opportunity Assessments and up to $30,000 for Feasibility Studies, subject to program requirements.
We will also discuss CMHC MLI Select, a mortgage loan insurance program for multi-unit residential projects that rewards commitments to affordability, accessibility, and energy efficiency/climate compatibility. Depending on eligibility and points achieved, MLI Select may support improved financing flexibility, including reduced premiums, longer amortization periods, higher loan-to-value ratios, and other lending benefits.
Sizing Ventilation and Heating Systems
Date: July 22nd, Wednesday
Time: 12 PM ( Mountain Time )
Overview
This session is designed for builders, architects, mechanical designers, energy advisors, and construction professionals who want a practical understanding of how residential ventilation and heating systems should be properly sized. We will review the three primary ventilation design methodologies—Building Code 9.32, CSA F326, and ASHRAE—and discuss when each approach should be used and why proper ventilation sizing is critical to building performance, occupant comfort, and indoor air quality.
We will also cover the fundamentals of residential heating system sizing using CSA F280, including heat loss calculations, outdoor design temperatures, and common sizing mistakes that lead to comfort and performance issues. By the end of the session, attendees will have a better understanding of the calculations behind residential mechanical design and the confidence to make more informed decisions on future projects.
Free to attend. Practical. Technical. Valuable. All in just 30 minutes.
